A Red weather warning has been issued for coastal counties of Connacht, including Donegal, as Met Éireann are predicting wind speeds of 70 to 90km/h and damaging gusts of 120 to 150km/h.

If you’re living on the west coast of Ireland or up in Donegal then you better put away anything that’s not nailed down in the back garden, as 120 to 150km/h gusts are expected to hit the region… hard.

The Red warning was issued at 9am this morning and it’s valid from 3pm today until 3am tomorrow morning, as that’s when the winds are expected to be at their worst.

Met Éireann have reduced the weather warning to Orange for both Cavan and Clare as they predict “it will become stormy for a time later this afternoon and evening, with severe southwest winds, gusting 100 to 120 km/h, strongest in exposed areas. “

The rest of the country has been issued a Yellow weather warning with Met Éireann saying, “Very windy later this afternoon and evening with very strong and blustery south veering southwest winds and gusts of 90 to 100km/h. Valid 1500h to 2400h.”

The rest of the week looks pretty mixed with heavy rains expected tonight and on Friday night. You can check out a five-day-forecast over on Met.ie.
