Clodagh Cogley needs your help.
The 21-year old student suffered drastic injuries in the balcony collapse in Berkeley, to the extent that she is unlikely to walk again. Clodagh, however, is facing this challenge with a courage and determination that is truly inspiring.
The GoFundMe account, established by Anne Scrivener, states that “her family house will need to be adapted significantly to meet Clodagh’s needs and accommodate a wheelchair and there’ll be numerous other expenses”.
Since the page was set-up on June 27 it has received donations totalling just over a remarkable €40,000. However, this is still some way short of the €100,000 goal.
In the wake of the Berkeley tragedy, the nation was inspired by Clodagh’s optimistic attitude.
Clodagh has used her Facebook to remind her friends and family to ‘enjoy a good dance and the feeling of grass beneath your feet like its the last time’, and has pledged to ‘honour those who died by living the happiest and most fulfilling life possible’.
Clodagh has also publicly thanked her friend Jack Halpin, who is also in recovery, for heroically breaking her fall.
There is no better way to honour the bravery of these young Irish people than to donate what you can to the costs of Clodagh’s rehabilitation.
