Very sad news.
The body of a man was discovered in the sea near Teelin in Donegal on Wednesday night.
The discovery was made after The Coast Guard were alerted to a small fishing boat washed up on the rocks near Sliabh Liag.
In a follow up search involving Malin Head Coast Guard, the RNLI and local Gardaí, the body of a man in his 70s, known to be a local fisherman, was recovered from the water shortly before midnight.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to Letterkenny Hospital, where a post-mortem examination has been arranged.
Gardaí have said a file will now be prepared for the coroner.
