Awful news.
The search for missing Galway man Conor Burke has ended after the 24-year-old was found dead in the River Corrib over the weekend. The official death notice for Burke notes his date of death as 14 February, which is the date he went missing.
A statement from the Oranmore Maree Coastal Search Unit read: “We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Conor Burke. May he rest in peace.
“Some of our RIB unit were involved in the search along the river Corrib. Thanks for everyone who came out on the search and for the Commercial Boat Club for the use of their facilities.”
A week ago, the body of another young man, Robert Murray, was also recovered from the Renmore Beach area. He was 25 years old.
