The plane was en route from Manchester to New York when it made an emergency landing in Shannon this afternoon.

A spokesperson for Shannon Airport told RTE that he had no information as to what caused the emergency landing.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that it may have been because there was smoke coming from the lavatory on board the Pakistan International Airlines plane.

205 people were on board the plane that landed safely in Shannon Airport at approximately 2.30pm this afternoon and the incident has since been stood down.
