WATCH: Boris Johnson seems to think Ireland is part of the United Kingdom

Boris Johnson, the world’s most pompous man, does it again.

With the words “I think it’s a very relevant comparison,” Boris Johnson once again demonstrates the ignorance in the higher echelons of the British Government regarding Ireland’s status as… deep breath while we spell this out… a completely fucking separate country to the United Kingdom.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, the Foreign Secretary compared the Irish border to the invisible line that divides the London boroughs of Islington and Camden while dismissing talk of a hard Irish border.

After telling the show’s host Mishal Husain that, “we think we can have very efficient systems to make sure there’s no need for a hard border, excessive checks in Nothern Ireland” he went on to say, “there’s no border between Islington… Camden and Westminster.

“There’s no border between Camden and Westminster but when I was Mayor of London we anaesthetically and invisibly took hundreds of millions of pounds from the accounts of people travelling between these two boroughs without any need for border checks whatever…”

Husain called him up on the rank stupidity of the comparison: “Come on, you can’t compare two boroughs of London with the kinds of difference in the arrangement that would be in place after Brexit between the UK and the EU?” she asked.

“I think it’s a very relevant comparison,” he concluded.
