Break out the hot water bottle, Ireland is set to see minus temperatures in the coming week

Carl Kinsella

Summer is a little more than a week away now, and you know what that means: lounging in the sun, eating ice cream and working on your tan.

Except no, not at all, because this is Ireland. Met Éireann has forecasted bitterly cold nights for the next few days that will see showery spells as well as the possibility of hail and sleet.

On Monday, we will see minimums of 0-4 degrees Celsius, which is set to get even worse on Tuesday, when it is predicted that there’ll be temperatures of -2 degrees Celsius. Wednesday is forecasted to be “still very cold, but a bright day, with sunny spells,” and minima of 2 to 5 degrees Celsius.

While the weather is set to “improve” after midweek, we can still expect patchy rain on Thursday, and “heavy rain” on Friday so… This might be a week for staying indoors.
