They’ve had it tough in Lahinch in the last couple of days, but the sense of humour of residents of the town is still very much intact.
The Clare town has borne the brunt of the worst of the bad weather in the last couple of weeks, with very strong and very high waves causing significant damage to buildings in the area after crashing in from the Atlantic, with some residents in the area having to be evacuated from their homes as a result.
The lovely promenade in Lahinch was particularly affected, with some of the worst storms seen in the area in the years causing debris to be flung along the promenade and causing extensive damage to the walkways located in the immediate proximity of the sea front.
The promenade has been closed to the public until further notice but amidst what must be an incredibly tough time for residents and businesses in the area, they were given something to smile about with the positioning of a famous and instantly recognisable sign from Father Ted at one of the worst affected areas.

Admittedly, it might provide only a brief moment of levity in what is a very difficult time for people from the town and we’re sure that it will be back to its beautiful self in no time once this wild spell clears up.
Hat-tip to Rob Meehan and Bee NÃ Choitir for sending this one our way
