According to the Cork Evening Echo 9 ‘superloos’ in Cork are running at a loss of a mind boggling €240,000 a year.

Cork Evening Echo reports the “superloos in Cork county — one in Ballincollig, one in Monkstown, one in Carrigaline, two in Midleton and four in Youghal —cost €250,000 per year, for leasing and maintenance.”

Leaving the kids at the super-pool, so to speak, costs just 50c per use, but the toilets in question have only been used 20,000 times in the last year, which generated just €10,000 in income.

When you break it down, the superloos are costing the council €12 per go. Talk about flushing money down the toilet…

Apparently, the superloos aren’t the easiest things to operate either.

Speaking about one particular incident that was noted by the council, Independent Cllr Noel Collins said the following…

“The guidelines to exit the superloo are confusing for some people. One such case, in recent times, the person inside the loo, by mistake, pressed the wrong button. The door opened, leaving the person sitting on the loo in full view of the passing public.”
