Thousands of homes and buildings have been destroyed.

13 sets of human remains were discovered on Monday in Northern California following the massive wildfires taking place in the state.

This brings the death toll to 42, at the time of writing.

According to CNN, the sheriff of Butte County said that this is now the deadliest wildfire in the history of the state.

It is also being reported that a total of 7,177 buildings have been destroyed. The fire grew to 183 square miles on Monday, and containment was up to 30%.

Hollywood actor Gerard Butler is among the thousands of people whose homes were destroyed in the blaze.

Kardashian West and family, Lady Gaga, Scott Baio, Rainn Wilson, and Guillermo del Toro were also among the many people who were forced to evacuate their houses following the wildfire.

This news comes just a few days after Donald Trump had previously threatened to take funding away from fighting forest fires in California, before tweeting:

“These California fires are expanding very, very quickly (in some cases 80-100 acres a minute). If people don’t evacuate quickly, they risk being overtaken by the fire. Please listen to evacuation orders from State and local officials! […] With proper Forest Management, we can stop the devastation constantly going on in California. Get Smart!”
