
Car stopped going at a breakneck speed in Limerick, passengers not wearing seatbelts
An accident waiting to happen.
Gardaí stopped a motorist who was driving at 176km/h in a 100km/h Adare, Limerick on Tuesday. Not only that, but the driver had two passengers who weren't wearing their seatbelts.
A tweet on the matter said: "Limerick Roads Policing: Car detected at 176km/h in 100km/h zone in Adare. Amazingly - 2 rear seat passengers no seat belts on! Driver arrested for Dangerous Driving, appearing at Special Sitting D/ Court."

A statement published on Wednesday morning by An Garda Síochána reveals: "Over the New Year period, 70 drivers failed to heed all the safety messages and were arrested on suspicion of intoxicated driving."
The arrests build on the 10 arrests for drink-driving across Christmas Day.

Since Christmas Day, well over 1,000 people have been recorded breaking the speed limit by Garda speed cameras.
