Cat Deeley stayed at home with their two sons.

Patrick Kielty and his family paid their respects to his mother, Mary, at her funeral this week.

Mary Kielty's funeral took place in Dundrum, Co. Down, on Monday, March 10th.

The presenter and his brothers carried their mother's coffin into the Church of the Sacred Heart in Dundrum.

Mourners gathered to honour the life of Mary Kielty, but Kielty's wife Cat Deeley was unable to attend.

A representative for the English presenter has since confirmed why this was the case.

Cat Deeley remained at home to care for her and Patrick's young sons.

She wanted to remain with the children and to support them during such a heartbreaking time.

Cat Deeley stayed at their home in London with their sons Milo and James.

The Mirror reports: "Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day."

Tributes have been pouring in for Patrick Kielty's mother, Mary.

She has been remembered as a "loving mother" and "devoted grandmother" following her death.

Her death notice reads: "She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her entire family circle, neighbours and friends".

The news of Mary's passing was announced via the Funeral Times website.

RTÉ also confirmed that Kielty's mother died only hours after he hosted the most recent Late Late Show.

Her husband and Patrick’s father, Jack, was killed by members of the Ulster Freedom Fighters (UFF) in 1988.
