Men arrested in connection with Cavan fire homicide investigation released without charge

59-year-old Oliver Murray died in a fatal house fire in Cavan last year.

Two men who were arrested earlier this week in connection with a fatal house fire that took place in Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan last August have been released without charge.

The investigation into the death of 59-year-old Oliver Murray has officially been upgraded to homicide status as of Tuesday 15 January.

Gardaí arrested a 37-year-old and 51-year-old man in relation to the incident, both of whom were detained at Bailieborough Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The two men were released on Wednesday.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
