Chief Medical Officer Tony Holohan in hospital for tests, not related to Covid-19

It’s understood Holohan felt unwell during the daily Department of Health news conference last night.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has been admitted to St James’s Hospital for tests after he felt unwell on Tuesday night.

It’s understood the tests are not related to Covid-19 and Holohan is expected to be released from hospital on Thursday.

Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn will take over the evening press briefing during Holohan’s absence.

RTÉ’s George Lee said he had spoken to Holohan on the phone and the CMO said he expects to be back to work shortly.
