Gardaí and emergency services were called to the incident in West Dublin around 12.45am this morning.

A number of people, including children, have been hospitalised and a family pet has been killed in a suspected arson attack on a home in Ballyfermot.

Gardaí and emergency services confirmed that they were alerted to the incident at 12.45am this morning, November 27, after a fire broke out at a single-storey family home in Labre Park, Ballyfermot.

There were multiple people in the house at the time, including several children who were evacuated by firefighters.

It’s been reported that one child could not be evacuated through the front door of the house, and was evacuated through the window of the living room shortly before local fire services extinguished the fire.

A family pet dog is believed to have died in the fire.

All occupants of the house were brought to hospital where they were treated for non life-threatening injuries following the incident.

Hazel de Nortúin, local People Before Profit councillor, condemned the incident adding that the death of a family pet 'adds another layer of trauma' to the victims.

She stated that arson incidents in the area are 'out of control' and that there was a 'worrying trend' of women and children becoming targets of fire attacks.

The incident follows two separate arson attacks this week, including a fire attack on a woman in Clondalkin on Tuesday and an assault on a woman in Kildare on Monday morning.

A technical examination of the scene has since been completed by gardaí who confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
