Be careful this Christmas.
It’s Christmas time folks!
If you haven’t got your Christmas tree yet, you’ll probably be getting it soon and although it’s going to make your house look a whole lot nicer, it also comes with a risk.
Members of the public with a real tree (as opposed to an artificial one) in their house are being urged to regularly water it to ensure that it burns slower if it was to catch fire.
Dublin Fire Brigade shared a video comparing how a watered tree will burn to how a dry tree will burn, alongside the caption: “A watered tree will burn slower than a dry tree. Keep topping it up with water until you are ready to dispose of it.”
Take a look at the video here, which shows just how dangerous a dry tree can be:
If you have a real tree, keep it watered.

It is also advised that you keep candles and all other naked flames far away from the Christmas tree.
