Colin Farrell and Andrew Scott get Golden Globes nomination

The pair of Dubliners received nominations for the awards, with disappointment for other Irish contenders.

Colin Farrell and Andrew Scott have both received Golden Globes nominations, while Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal misses out.

Farrell and Scott will be going head to head in the Best Actor in a Miniseries or Motion Picture – Television category.

‘Ripley’, the Netflix series based on the 1955 novel ‘The Talented Mr Ripley’, scored Scott his nomination, with Farrell being recognised for his role in ‘The Penguin’, a role he reprised from The Batman film released in 2022.

They are joined by Richard Gadd in ‘Baby Reindeer’ as well as Cooper Koch. in ‘Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story’ in the category.

Kildare man Paul Mescal did not receive any nominations for his role in ‘Gladiator 2’.

The film itself received two nods but none for the 28-year-olds portrayal in the Ridley Scott sequel.

Saoirse Ronan also missed out on a nomination for her role in World War Two drama, ‘Blitz’.

Furthermore, to much disappointment, ‘Kneecap’, which dominated last nights British Independent Film Awards, was not nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film.

The biopic based on the hip-hop trio took home seven awards from the BIFA’s, including Best Independent Film and Best Joint Lead Performance.

The star of the most recent ‘Bridgerton’ season, Nicola Coughlan, also had no joy in the nominations, as well as Cillian Murphy and Eileen Walsh’s performances in ‘Small Things Like These’.

Netflix drama ‘Emilia Pérez’ starring Selena Gomez led the film categories with 10 nominations, while both stars of ‘Wicked’, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande received nominations in their respective categories.

‘Shogun’, ‘The Bear’ and ‘Slow Horses’ dominated the TV category nominations.

The Golden Globe Awards, hosted by American comedian Nikki Glaser, will be held in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 5.
