Great news.

The guidelines for outdoor events of up to 200 people have been updated to allow for live music and other performances in outdoor hospitality settings.

The Government has confirmed the guidelines were updated following advice from the Attorney General, subject to all of the relevant public health guidance.

Live music and performances are still prohibited indoors but are allowed to take place outdoors provided the performance area is a minimum of two metres from the customers.

Organised outdoor events state that venues can now cater for a maximum of 200 people.

Customers are also allowed to book multiple tables in an outdoor area provided there is no intermingling between the tables.

The limit of people aged above 13 allowed at a table remains at six, but the limit does not apply to those aged 12 or under up to a limit of 15 people.

It comes after a clarification from the Attorney General this week following an outdoor event of 50 people at the Merrion Hotel recently organised by Katherine Zappone and attended by Tánaiste Leo Varadkar.
