Copper Face Jacks made how much profit last year?

All those ‘ah sure we’ll just go to Coppers’ nights add up to a serious amount of cash for the owners.

All those ‘ah sure we’ll just go to Coppers’ nights add up to a serious amount of cash for the owners.

We all knew that owning Coppers is a licence to print money, but we were surprised to see just how much.

The favourite haunt of everyone from students to celebrities to victorious GAA players, Copper Face Jacks on Harcourt Street is now a certifiable Dublin institution. And the fact that it is the default venue of choice for a huge swath of people has helped ensure that the owners are pocketing a serious wedge at the end of each year.

Latest figures on the business, published in today’s Irish Independent, reveal that pre-tax profits were a staggering €6.8million in the year ending January 31 2013.

That is almost exactly the same as the year before, and it is very good news for owners Cathal and Paula Jackson.

The company behind the nightspot, Breanagh Catering Ltd, is now sitting on cash reserves of €43m. That’s a lot of pints.

In 2010, the enormous figure of €217,146 was generated from Coppers cloakroom alone but sadly we don’t have the details for that in 2012.

Anyway, see you all there later to see if we can help push them over the €7m mark next year.
