Cork city flooding

High praise for the capital and the *cough* ‘real capital’.

Cork and Dublin have both been included in a list of the top 100 cities in the world for millennials, according to online housing and relocation platform Nestpick.

Thousands of cities around the world were studied by Nestpick in an effort to compile the ultimate Millennial City Ranking, with Dublin and Cork coming in 33rd and 61st place respectively on a list where only one of the top ten cities wasn’t located in Europe.

In order for a city to feature and rank highly on the list, Nestpick determined that it must have a thriving business eco structure, allow affordable access to the essentials that young people need to survive, have a sense of openness and tolerance that is increasingly prevalent in the 21st century, and lastly, offer a chance for millennials to kick back and relax.

As a result, cities were ranked under four separate categories, each containing a wide variety of contributors (see below).

Business Ecosystem: Employment score, start-up score, tourist score

The Essentials: Housing score, transport score, health ranking, food ranking, Internet speed ranking, Apple Store score

Openness: Access to contraception, gender equality ranking, immigration tolerance, LGBT friendliness score

Recreation: The nightscene ranking, the beer score, the festival score

Amsterdam ended up on top of the pile, followed by Berlin, Munich, Lisbon and Antwerp, with Vancouver the only city outside Europe in the top ten.
