Manchester United’s Darren Fletcher got a fantastic reception when he was subbed on today at Villa Park

It has been a long and difficult year and a career that has stuttered a little in recent times for Darren Fletcher, who looked like a fantastic prospect just a few short years ago.

Manchester United fans will be delighted however, as will football fans in general, to see one of the hardest working players around finally get back on the field in his team’s colours after nearly a year out.

Fletcher last player for United on St. Stephen’s Day in 2012, so it’s been a difficult road back for the Scot, but the reception he got from all the fans at Villa Park (which included a bit of applause from the home fans too) will let him know that they have been wishing him all the best for the duration of the journey.

He looked very good when he came on and settled straight into the game, almost setting up Welbeck for his hat-trick with a lovely ball dinked over the top of the defence, but we’re sure he was happy just to be back.
