Donald Trump has sarcastically hit back at Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old activist who is working towards raising awareness of the effects of climate change.
Thunberg gave an extremely powerful speech on Monday, where she told world leaders that they have failed to act on climate change and that future generations will never forgive them if they continue to do so.
Throughout her speech at a climate summit attended by roughly 60 world leaders in New York, she voiced her outrage with world leaders, saying that they have stolen her dreams and her childhood with their "empty words".
She continued: "You are still not mature enough to tell it like it is. You’re failing us, but the young people are starting to understand your betrayal.
"The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And, if you choose to fail us, we will never forgive you."
Since then, US President Donald Trump has replied to her speech on Twitter, quote-tweeting it accompanied by a sarcastic comment.
Sharing her video, Trump wrote: "She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!"
Footage was captured of Thunberg's reaction to seeing Trump at the event, which birthed a GIF that will certainly go down in history.
