Donald Trump seems to double down on his attacks of congressman

He's sticking to his guns.

US President Donald Trump launched a stinging attack on Elijah Cummings, the Democratic chair of the House oversight committee this weekend, describing his district of Baltimore, a majority-black district, as a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess”. Despite a major backlash to the tweets he posted, Trump appears to have doubled down on his comments, which have been called racist by a number of US politicians, including Nancy Pelosi. He has recently retweeted a tweet by Katie Hopkins, wherein she described Baltimore as a "shithole". On top of this, he has also referred to Elijah Cummings himself as a racist, for some reason, as well as sharing a number of videos of crimes that have taken place in Baltimore. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1155558122163003393?s=20 Cummings had replied to the president on Twitter, saying: "Mr President, I go home to my district daily. "Each morning, I wake up, and I go and fight for my neighbours." A video of CNN anchor Victor Blackwell, who grew up in Baltimore, has been widely shared throughout the weekend, as he was reduced to tears live on air, addressing Trump's tweets.
