Following the release of Michaella McCollum from a Peruvian prison, news has emerged that Melissa Reid will also soon be released.
According to the BBC, Peruvian authorities, following a Friday court hearing, had agreed to expel Reid from the country as she had met the legal requirements to be released, having “complied with other measures.” She may, however, still have to remain in the country for a time as part of her parole conditions.
The pair were were caught with an estimated €1.9m/£1.5m of cocaine at Lima Airport on 6 August 2013 while attempting to board a flight to Madrid, Spain.
