Five arrested after €400,000 drugs seizure in Dublin

Searches were carried out on Saturday afternoon.

Five people have been arrested after Gardaí in Dublin seized quantities of cannabis herb, cocaine and diamorphine (subject to analysis) with an estimated street value of €400,000.

As part of an intelligence-led operation carried out by Gardaí from Ballymun and Santry, a car was stopped on Balbutcher Lane at around 4pm on Saturday afternoon, 16 November.

Two men aged 55 and 22, respectively, were arrested at the scene and a quantity of cannabis herb was found in the vehicle following a search.

In a follow-up search at a house in Santry, Gardaí seized quantities of cannabis herb, cocaine and diamorphine.

Three people – two men aged 35 and 21, and a 27-year-old woman – were in the residence at the time of the search and were subsequently arrested before being taken to Ballymun and Clontarf Garda Stations.

All five prisoners are currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Investigations are ongoing.
