Thinking of going somewhere a little different on holidays this summer?
Dublin Airport have confirmed the addition of nine new routes, four short-haul and five long-haul, to their flight schedule this summer.
The routes, which had already been flagged by the airlines providing the respective services, include a three-times weekly service to Miami, a seven-times weekly service to Doha and alternative routes to New York and Rhode Island with Norwegian.
Closer to home, meanwhile, additional services have been laid on to Munich, Stockholm and Split, while British Airways will fly to Ibiza once a week.
With the new routes on the schedule, the number of additional seats to and from North America is up 23%, with an extra 538,000 seats this year. During the peak summer months, 10 airlines will fly 414 flights per week to and from 15 destinations in the US and five destinations in Canada; an average of 60 flights daily to and from North America.
Overall capacity on existing European routes, meanwhile is set to increase by 7% with over 785,000 additional seats this summer, while Thomson/Falcon will begin two charter services in June with direct flights to Montego Bay in Jamaica and Cancun in Mexico for a six-week period.
Just under six million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport in the first three months of this year, a 5% increase (or an extra 260,000 passengers) compared to last year.
