Recent figures published by the National Transport Authority (25) reveal that the 84x received the most complaints of all Dublin Bus routes during the second quarter of 2019.

The 84x, which travels from Kildare St in Dublin city centre out to Newcastle/Kilcoole in Wicklow received 25 complaints per 100,000 passengers.

In second place was the 33x bus, a Monday-to-Friday only service that runs just four times each day, from the city centre to Skerries. Tied for second place was the 61, another low-frequency bus from Eden Quay to Whitechurch. Each of those routes had 23 complaints per 100,000 passengers.

However, the NTA noted that “some complaints included in these figures may not be fully attributable to the operator eg. complaints regarding frequency on a bus route or issues at certain bus stops that the operator has no responsibility to maintain.”

In the first six months of 2019, Dublin Bus have been fined €38,455.19 for “such aspects as bus equipment, bus driver, cleanliness, customer care and customer information.” Additionally, the company has been fined the number of late and cancelled buses, with the total deductions exceeding €268,000.

NTA released a full list of buses and how many complaints they take in, although the list omitted any route that received less than 10 complaints in total. Check out the list below to see how your own bus fares (and remember, the number of complaints is per 100,000 passengers).
