The incident took place on Friday night.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal car collision in Galway.
A female pedestrian in her 70s was fatally injured when she was struck by a 4×4.
The incident occurred on the M18 (southbound) near junction 17 at Clighboley, Ardahan.
The injured woman was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
Gardaí are currently investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses to contact Gort Garda Station at 091-636400, or the Garda Confidential Line at 1900 666 111.
