Updated 15.10:
At least ten people are dead and many more are injured after multiple explosions on the underground in the Russian city of St Petersburg.
According to witnesses, the blast tore through the Sennaya Ploshchad station. Horrifying images shared on social media show desperate victims trapped in the wreckage of the train as others attempt to free the injured.
However, according to CNN, the explosion occurred not at the Sennaya Ploshchad station itself, but in the subway tunnel between it and another station.

Early reports suggest that at least 50 people have been hurt in the blast, which killed at least ten. Several other underground stations have now been closed and an evacuation is underway.
Vladimir Putin is currently in St Petersburg, where he was scheduled due to meet with Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko this afternoon.
He has stated: “The reasons for the explosion are unknown, so it’s too early to talk about it. The investigation will show what happened. “Naturally, we always consider all options — both domestic and criminal, primarily incidents of a terrorist nature.”
