A woman in her early 40s is due to appear in court on Thursday morning over the fatal stabbing of an infant in Dublin on Monday.

The woman was arrested by Gardaí on Wednesday morning and will appear before Criminal Courts of Justice, Court Number 3 on Thursday morning at 10.30am.

The woman, who is the mother of the three-year-old boy fatally wounded in the incident, is from the Middle East and sustained knife wounds in the incident which required hospital treatment.

Earlier this week, Gardaí said that they were “treating the case as a personal tragedy” and were not looking to speak with anyone else in connection with the incident.

It is believed that the woman is being charged with the murder of the infant, which occurred at the Riverside apartment complex in Kimmage on Monday.
