Fiat recalling more than 450 passenger vehicles in Ireland over issue with brakes

Stephen Porzio

Take note if you own one of these.

Fiat is carrying out a voluntary recall of some of its Ducato passenger vehicles over an issue with their brakes, the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has revealed.

The affected vehicles were produced over a nearly five year period between 31 October, 2014 to 16 July, 2019.

According to the CCPC, a safety issue has been identified whereby the brake pipes can be damaged through mechanical contact with other components.

The CCPC says this can cause the leakage of brake fluid and as a result, restricted braking action.

The retaining clamp of the brake pipes on the bulkhead is being checked and, where necessary, repositioned by Fiat.

There are approximately 458 affected vehicles in the Republic of Ireland.

The CCPC says Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Ireland DAC will contact all affected customers to advise of further steps they can take.

If you believe your vehicle may be impacted by this recall, Fiat Customer Care can be contacted at 1800 342800 with your chassis number.

The chassis number can be found on the lower right hand side of the windscreen on the passenger side.

Read the product recall on the CCPC’s website here.
