Have you been affected by flash flooding or lightning?
Any hopes of Ireland enjoying one last blast of good weather before summer comes to a close have been dashed in spectacular fashion in recent days.
Sure, it’s been warm and humid, but repeated rain has led to two separate weather warnings being issued by Met Éireann on Tuesday and few parts of the country have escaped the miserable conditions.
The north of the country has been the worst affected; according to Met Éireann, Malin Head in Donegal recorded 40mm of rain on Tuesday, while parts of Donegal, Derry, Tyrone and other areas in the north have been subject to flash flooding as a result of the heavy rain.

As had been predicted, thunder and lightning have also made their presence felt, the image below was posted shortly after 8pm, with the north and northwest of the country the worst affected.

Things should begin to calm down by tomorrow, but the forecast is for fairly miserable weather until the weekend, when Saturday, at least, is expected to be “a largely dry day with a mix of cloud and bright or sunny spells”.
Good news for anyone heading to the Mayo v Kerry replay on Saturday; fingers crossed there’ll be similar conditions for Electric Picnic the following weekend.
