On Tuesday morning, Met Éireann issued a weather warning for several parts of Ireland.

The eight counties involved in the status yellow alert were the whole area of Connacht as well as Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal.

However, on Tuesday afternoon, Met Éireann put down yet another weather warning but this time it was for the whole country of Ireland.

A status orange alert was issued and means that there will be “widespread thundery activity” on Tuesday afternoon and evening.

The second weather warning for 22 August will be valid from 12pm to 11pm.

According to Met Éireann, tonight will see “heavy rain with thundery bursts continuing for a time across parts of Ulster early tonight but will clear away to the northeast soon after midnight.

“Cooler, clearer weather will follow with a few showers along Atlantic coasts. Minimum temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees. A few mist patches will form under light southwest breezes.”

Looking to tomorrow, it’s set to be dry at first on Wednesday morning along the eastern half of the country but there will still be the odd shower too.

These odd showers will then become more widespread through the course of the afternoon with temperatures ranging from 16 to 20 degrees.
