She appeared on season 24 of The Bachelor
An ex-reality TV star says she’s spent the past decade free from an addiction to pornography after previously becoming ‘enslaved’ to it.
Madison Prewett appeared on American dating show ‘The Bachelor’ in 2019 and shot to fame almost immediately after. She now boasts 1.8 million followers on Instagram and has a successful YouTube channel.
Last week the Alabama native told her Stay True podcast how she had struggled with an addiction to what she described as “sexual sin” ever since she was in middle school.
Prewett said she was exposed to sexually explicit movies and TV shows when she was just 13-years-old — and became addicted to the content for the next few years of her life.
During the podcast she said: “My body started feeling things that I had never felt before and I started wondering things that I’d never wondered before and then desiring it and then wanting it and and so I left that time with my friend like genuinely so curious about that and wanting it more.”
“That was something I felt like I could not break free from.”
“No matter how much I loved Jesus, I could not shake that sin. I could not break free from porn and masturbation. And I would beat myself up and I would be bound by shame.
Prewett went on to explain how she eventually managed to abstain completely from pornography.
She said: “Thankfully, by the grace of God and by the power of Godly community and people around me, I have been free from porn and masturbation for — I don’t even know — 10 years.
“It’s still a choice for me every single day, even as a married woman, to not return back to the past of my sexual sin addictions,” Prewett added.
“It’s still a choice every single day for me not to choose to lust after things that I see online or to give into a feeling that arises.”
The 29-year-old was a finalist on “The Bachelor” before ultimately leaving the show after she felt pressured to compromise on her religious views.
In 2022 Prewett married a baptist pastor named Grant Troutt, and has since released two memoirs about her life. The couple celebrated the birth of their first child in January.
