The full list of storm names for Ireland in 2020/2021 has been released

First up will be Storm Aiden.

Met Éireann, the UK Met Office and the Dutch National Weather Service (KNMI) have unveiled the list of names for the 2020/21 storm season.

The list features names chosen as part of the combined Name Our Storms scheme, which was developed to raise awareness of inclement weather prior to its arrival.

Man’s name Aiden will arrive first, followed by a female’s name, and then a male, and so on, with the letters Q, U, X, Y, and Z left out in order to comply with international storm-naming conventions.

The full list of storm names for Ireland and the UK for 2020/2021 are as follows:

Storm names

A storm is named by a National Met Service when Orange or Red level winds are forecast to impact over a wide land area. Orange or Red level gusts can occur in exposed areas without the event being named.
