The funeral of Garda Kevin Flatley will take place tomorrow, Friday, May 16,
The 49-year-old Garda was killed while on duty last Sunday, May 11.
He was struck while attempting to wave down a motorcycle at a checkpoint on the old Swords to Balbriggan road.
The father of two was pronounced dead at the scene.
His funeral mass with take place at St Peter and Paul’s Church, Balbriggan, Dublin at 1.30pm and will be followed by a private family burial in Newcastle, Dublin.
The mass will be broadcast on large screens outside the church, and will be streamed live on the An Garda Síochána Facebook page.
Traffic restrictions will be in place around the area.
Parking in the vicinity of the Church will be very limited, and the carpark beside the church will facilitate the overflow.
The funeral cortege will travel from McNallys Funeral Home, Drogheda Street, Balbriggan to St Peter and Paul’s Church.
To facilitate the funeral cortege, the main street through Balbriggan will be closed to all traffic for a period from approximately 12:00pm midday, until after the funeral services.
Diversions will be in place.
Parking restrictions will also be in place on the main street through Balbriggan from today, May 15.
