Garda hospitalised following an assault in Dundalk

Two men have been arrested.

According to a spokesperson for the Gardaí, a member of An Garda Síochána is being treated in hospital this evening after an assault in Dundalk.

Gardaí had responded to a call at The Bakehouse Apartments in Dundalk in relation to "Public Order incidents," at approximately 5pm. After arriving at the scene, one Garda was assault and received facial injuries. As of Thursday evening, the Garda is being treated at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda.

The injured Garda is believed to be in his 20s.

One male in his 50s has been arrested in relation to the assault.

A second male has also been arrested for Public Order matters and has been detained at Dundalk Garda Station.
