Gardaí appeal for public’s help in identifying body of man recovered from water

The man’s body was recovered from the water at Claddagh Quay in Galway.

Gardaí in Galway are appealing to the public to help identify a man whose body was recovered from the water.

The man, who is estimated to have been aged in his 60s, was recovered from Claddagh Quay on November 17. Gardaí are not treating the death as suspicious.

He has been described as five feet and seven inches in height and of a medium build, 78-80kg. He had blue eyes and a full head of red/grey hair.

He had a grey full beard, with the moustache part of the beard slightly red, and wore black rimmed glasses on his person.

He was wearing a grey tweed suit jacket and trousers, a blue/white striped shirt with a flowery print along the seams where the buttons are and inside the collar. He wore size 10 black laced dress shoes by the brand ASOS.

The man is believed to have had an Irish accent. 

Superintendent Paudie O’Shea of Galway Garda Station commented: “Extensive enquiries have been carried out, but there has been no positive identification of the deceased to date.

“I am appealing to owners of guest houses, landlords, hotels, hostels, B&Bs and Airbnbs to check if anybody left their premises and may have left property behind.”
