Garda arrests

Some people just don’t get the message.

The Gardaí were out in force this weekend and as usual, caught a number of people breaking the rules of the road.

We reported on Monday that they’d caught drivers in Waterford doing extremely dangerous speeds in “poor driving conditions”.

But they also caught a number of people driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

However, the Gardaí didn’t have to look to hard to find one of the offenders they caught this weekend. In fact, the offender basically presented their wrists to the Gardaí.

Gardaí in Blanchardstown stopped a driver who was blowing smoke out the window of their car in the direction of a Garda motorcyclist. The problem was the driver was smoking cannabis, which the Garda could smell, and the driver tested positive for it when they were pulled over.

Oh dear…

Bu that wasn’t the end of it as Gardaí in Naas arrested eight people for drink and drug driving over the weekend.

One of those arrested was on a learner permit and had just recently returned from a drink driving ban. Said driver tested positive for cocaine.

All eight arrested have court appearances to follow.
