There’s never a good time to break the speed limit.
But everybody knows that extra caution needs to be applied when conditions are treacherous…
On Monday, Gardaí shared three photos of speedometers capturing three drivers on the Waterford Bypass who were doing speeds roughly 50% over the 100km/h speed limit during “horrendous wet conditions.”
A tweet on the official Garda Twitter page reads:
“Waterford Roads Policing Unit conduct a Speed Checkpoint in horrendous wet conditions. 3 vehicles detected driving in excess of 100km/hr limit on Waterford Bypass, Kilmeaden, all the more dangerous considering the poor driving conditions due to torrential rain.”
Photos from the scene show that cars were stopped driving at 154km/h, 148 km/h and 146km/h.
