The Gardaí Press Office informed JOE that the armed response had been removed from the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre and that there were no further searches in place.
There was no information given as to how the incident is said to have begun or reported to officials in the first place, but following a search of the shopping centre, the Gardaí operation had been ordered to stand down.
At around 6.30pm, the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre was evacuated upon reports of an armed gunman in the area.
Dublin Bus had cancelled all routes from stopping at the centre, roads in to area were blocked off, and both an armed unit and a Garda helicopter were seen at the shopping centre.
There were multiple reports online of who the possible gunman may have been, but again, none of these have been substantiated.
We will update with any related information if and when it is released.
