Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Gardaí investigating the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Zach Parker at Applewood Close, Swords on Thursday evening have made an appeal to the public for information.

According to Gardaí, around 7.30pm a man approached and fired a number of shots at a slow moving car as it was driven from Applewood Close onto Jugback Lane.

Parker, from Swords, who was driving the car, was fatally injured while a 25-year-old man also from the Swords area was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital.

The gunman left the scene on foot onto Jugback Lane in the direction of Balheary Road.

A post mortem investigation will be conducted on Friday by the Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margot Bolster.

The passenger remains in Beaumont Hospital where his condition is understood to be stable.

The Garda Technical Bureau are examining a number of crime scenes linked with the investigation and an incident room has been established at Swords Garda Station.

Speaking this afternoon Superintendent Gerard Donnelly said: “My appeal is for witnesses who may have been in the Applewood area between 6.30pm and 8.00pm last night, particularly those around the Gym Plus premises, Applewood Close, Jugback Lane and the Balheary Road area of Swords and to any motorists with dash-cam footage to make it available.

“The gunman is described as tall, of athletic build and wearing a black hoodie top with a black scarf covering his face, black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers with white soles.

“It’s understood he was carrying a grey or light coloured rucksack that may have concealed the firearm.

“Anyone who can assist with the investigation is asked to contact the Incident Room at Swords Garda Station on 01 6664700 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.”
