Gardai seize €50,000 worth of ecstasy and cannabis due to be sold at RAG week in Galway

Two men have been detained at Galway Garda Station.

Gardaí and Revenue officers have seized €50,000 of ecstasy and cannabis that was intended to be sold during RAG week in Galway .

Two Irish men have been arrested after the Gardai seized 4,000 ecstasy tablets and a small quantity of herbal cannabis.

The joint operation was undertaken by Revenue drugs officers, the local Garda drugs unit and the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.

Galway Bay FM have reported that this investigation resulted in the identification and interception of a number of consignments of ecstasy tablets. “A subsequent search in the Ballybrit area today has resulted in the seizure of approximately 4,000 ecstasy tablets and a small quantity of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of 50 thousand euro”, they state.

The two men are currently being detained at Galway Garda Station, Mill Street under the Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act.

Last year, a similar incident occurred as Gardai seized €8,000 worth of ecstasy that was also due to be sold at RAG week in Galway.
