Good news: This weekend is shaping up to be a good one on the weather front

We’ll take all the wins we can get at this point.

Let’s call a spade a spade, bar the odd mild day here and there, it’s been absolutely freezing lately. No two ways about it.

It’s scarf, gloves and three layers sort of weather. But the cold we can live with, it’s the mixture of the bitter temperatures and heavy rain that really rubs us the wrong way.

And although we should probably expect even more of that over the coming festive period, this weekend is actually shaping up to be not too bad at all.

Met Éireann has forecast mostly dry weather for this weekend, despite the fact that it should remain quite cold.

It is expected that Friday will be a dry day for most. While staying cloudy in the far south and near some Leinster coasts, most places will have good sunny spells.

Sunny spells you say?

On Saturday, Met Éireann says that “any rain in the far south will clear, and most areas will have a dry, cool and bright day in a fresh northeast breeze”.

And finally on Sunday, other than isolated light showers near north coasts, it will be another cool but fine and dry day with variable small amounts of cloud and good sunny spells.

Brilliant stuff, if it can stay that way until Christmas with a bit of snow thrown in to make it a little more festive then we’ll take it.
