Earlier this year, Grand Theft Auto 6 got its second trailer, along with a release date of May 26, 2026. It was everything that fans of the series wanted, but ever since, there has been hesitation over actually getting excited about that date. We know that Rockstar has a habit of delaying all of its big titles, and GTA 6 itself was originally slated to release at some point in 2025.
Recently, it has been suggested by fairly reliable insiders that GTA 6's release date could slip even further, but right now, that doesn't appear to be the case. According to Take-Two's most recent earnings report, GTA 6 is still on track to release on May 26 next year, meaning there haven't been any internal delays so far.
It's a slight cause for optimism, though I will point out that Take-Two routinely claimed in previous earnings reports that GTA 6 would launch in 2025, so I wouldn't take this one as concrete evidence that another delay won't happen. It's a soft confirmation right now though, at a time when fans are still pretty antsy about another delay.
However, one thing that is still up in the air is GTA 6's price. Thanks to Nintendo kicking off the era of $80 games, there have been questions asked about Take-Two possibly following suit. We know that the game has a massive budget, and Take-Two could easily get away with charging more for a game like GTA 6. There have even been talks of the company potentially charging up to $100 for the title.
Unfortunately, Take-Two CEO Straus Zelnick isn't too keen on sharing that information, but in an interview with Variety, he does stipulate that the company's goal is to "deliver more value than what we charge".
“Our goal always is to deliver more value than what we charge, so we’ve had variable pricing at the company forever," says Zelnick. As you know, the approach of the industry is to launch at a premium price, sometimes with special editions, and over time, typically to reduce the price to enhance the overall size of the market. We do the very same thing."
While not confirmed, Zelnick's admission that GTA 6 will launch at a "premium price" almost certainly suggests that GTA 6 will be $80 at launch at the very least.
