The collision occurred near Luke’s Bridge, Gortnaleck, yesterday afternoon.

A man has died after being struck by a vehicle in County Sligo.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the fatal road traffic collision which occurred near Luke’s Bridge, Gortnaleck, yesterday, August 29, 2026.

The collision occurred around 3.55pm and involved a van and a male pedestrian, who was the owner of the vehicle.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to the local mortuary where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The coroner has been notified.

The road was closed for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. They are particularly appealing to road users who were travelling in the vicinity between 3.30pm and 4.00pm on Saturday and who may have camera footage to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
