The court heard the store, which opened in 2005, had been unable to recover from poor trading since the Covid-19 pandemic and was no longer being financially supported by its UK parent group. Barrister John Lavelle, appearing with Arthur Cox Solicitors for the company, said both the group and the Dublin store had been loss-making for a number of years, and that five creditors and the Department of Social Protection would be informed of the collapse immediately. The store’s annual rent was €1,059,410, while net liabilities rose from €19.4 million in 2021 to €28.2 million by the end of the 2026 financial year, RTÉ News reports.

Ms Justice Stack appointed John Boland and Nicholas O’Dwyer of Grant Thornton as joint provisional liquidators and granted them the necessary powers. If no buyer can be found, the pair will implement an orderly cessation of trading and secure the company’s assets, with the matter returned before the court on 7 September. The collapse is another blow for Irish jobs, following recent concern over potential job cuts in Ireland at Boston Scientific.
