Weather

We won’t lie, it ain’t looking great.

Weather conditions are promised to be mixed and changeable throughout the Bank Holiday weekend, with the possibility of rain potentially putting a dampener on your weekend plans, particularly on Sunday.

Met Éireann are forecasting a mainly cool and dry day on Friday, with temperatures going no higher than 12 degrees and dropping to as low as 3 degrees on Friday evening.

Light rain showers will threaten throughout the day, particularly in coastal areas in the south and west of the country.

The weather is set to take a turn for the worse on Saturday after a promising start in places, with damp and windy conditions promised during the afternoon before spells of heavier rain start to become persistent on Saturday night.

The rain is set to ease off through the night on Saturday, but will return with a vengeance on Sunday morning, with strong westerly winds, particularly in Munster and Connacht, making it feel even more miserable.

The rain will ease off ahead of a chilly night on Sunday, when temperatures will drop to just above freezing, with frost likely in parts of Munster and south Leinster.

Thankfully, Monday is set to be much better, with a forecast for plenty of dry and bright weather, with the midlands set to enjoy the best of it.

Temperatures will reach as high as 16 degrees and while there will be a threat of patchy rain in Ulster and southwest Munster, the rest of the country should enjoy some decent spells, with the promise of more of where that came from next week.
