Tea or whiskey, anyone?

If you’re one of those ‘glass half full’ people, you’ll be pleased to know that there’s plenty of good entertainment this weekend with the return of the Six Nations, Chelsea v Arsenal and Leicester v Man Utd, all on the TV.

Oh yeah, Gold and Loving are also being released in the cinema.

For those ‘glass half empty’ folk, here’s the weather forecast from Met Éireann.

Friday will start with bright and sunny spells, although a few showers will affect the counties that are on the Atlantic coast. Cloud will thicken from the south and outbreaks of rain will develop in southeast Leinster from late morning.

This rain will gradually spread northwards to affect eastern coastal counties. Many midland areas will hold dry, although showers will continue to affect Atlantic coastal regions.

Southwesterly winds, strong to gale about the west and northwest coast at first, will gradually moderate and become lighter by the afternoon.

As for tonight, any remaining rain or sleet in the east will begin to clear early. Scattered showers will spread eastwards overnight but the skies will clear later in the night, with frost and icy patches forming.

Stay warm because temperatures are expected to fluctuate between -2 and +2 degrees.

Saturday morning is expected to be a cold one but also dry.

While we’re all watching the Six Nations, scattered showers should affect western and northern coastal fringes, however, these showers will become more widespread through the afternoon and evening.

Saturday night will see these showers retreating to the coastal fringes to give a largely dry night with clear spells. Cold with a sharp to severe frost forming in light winds with lowest values ranging -3 to 0 degrees.

Yet again, Sunday morning will see showers of rain and hail about Atlantic coastal counties. Elsewhere, it’s expected to be largely dry with sunny spells throughout.

As for Sunday night, heavy rain is being predicted in places with the lowest temperatures ranging from -2 to +1 degrees.

Have a great weekend!
