HSE cancels all non-essential services in parts of Ireland due to Storm Emma

Rory Cashin

People are asked to check in advance to ensure that their appointments are still going ahead.

As more and more services around the country announced cancellations or limitations due to Storm Emma – including transport, schools and colleges – the status red update has led to the HSE making the following announcements:

Weather Statement

The HSE Severe Weather Plan is in place and the HSE stresses that at a local and national level our services are being impacted due to the severity of the weather conditions.

If you have a hospital, GP or health centre appointment today please contact the facility to ensure it is still taking place.  Do not make any unnecessary journeys and if you need to cancel a scheduled HSE appointment because you are unable travel, please make contact with the facility to advise them. Check the HSE Website or HSELive for contact details of HSE services and facilities.

Breastcheck Appointments Cancelled

Due to adverse weather conditions, BreastCheck appointments have been cancelled in counties where a red weather warning has been issued. If you are unsure, please contact the BreastCheck unit on your appointment letter.

Meath and Louth

The HSE in Louth Meath will be focusing on essential services only as long as the red alert status remains. All non-essential services are cancelled until further notice.

Children’s Hospital Group

Some outpatient clinics, elective and routine procedures scheduled for today in the three children’s hospitals have been cancelled. Please check hospital webpages for specific updates. However, if patients or parents do present to the three hospitals today they will be seen. All appointments cancelled during the period will be rescheduled as a priority and patients will be advised of their new appointment directly by their relevant hospital.

We will update further as more information becomes available.
